Tuleyone Indian Creation Legends

   This tribe of California Indians have two fire and deluge myths. In the first Sahte, the evil spirit, set the world on fire and Olle, the Coyote, caused a great flood which put the fire out. The survivors were those who sought refuge on the Conocti Mountains. In the second version Wekwek, the falcon, having stolen fire, carelessly dropped it on the world, which was set ablaze. Here again it was put out by Olle.
